The LiveLikeJohnny Scholarship Program
OPEN TO EVERYONE, NOT JUST FFA Members
The LiveLikeJohnny Scholarship Program encourages a life of learning and personal growth. We invest in young people who desire to further their education after high school graduation and represent Johnny’s legacy. This scholarship aligns with our mission to support the engagement of at-risk, underserved, and often overlooked young people with the potential for personal and professional success. We also support students who have demonstrated a devotion to serving their community like Johnny did.

Application Process:
- Applications will be reviewed by an Independent Scholarship Committee. Direct Questions to Barbie Mosley 361-688-3552.
- Top applicants selected by the Scholarship Committee will advance to an interview round (as needed) before the final selection of scholarship recipients. Candidates advancing to the interview round may interview in-person or via zoom on an assigned day designated by the Scholarship Committee.
- Please note that applications must be fully completed, including the one-page essay detailed below and introductory video—any incompletion will result in an automatic disqualification.
- Application deadline is April 1st.
- All decisions made by the Scholarship Committee are final.
**Essay (must be submitted to be considered a complete application for review): Be personal and bold—tell us how you LiveLikeJohnny and/or will strive to through your academic and professional career. We won’t get to know you any more than what your essay tells us, so don’t tell us what you think we want to hear, tell us who you are and what you want us to know. Everyone has transcripts and activities, but only you have your story.
- Be yourself: Speak from the heart and let your personality shine.
- Focus on your message: Clear and concise communication is key.
- Keep it simple: Fancy visuals or editing aren’t necessary—just focus on sharing your story so the scholarship committee can get to know YOU!
When you submit your application, be sure to include copies of your Resume, High School transcript, your EFC from your FAFSA, your essay and a letter of recommendation.
Funding availability may change for these programs at any time according to the Organizations’ financial conditions.
